This webinar will review several free publicly available data resources, including CMS Public Use Files, Hospice and Home Health Compare and Cost Reports. NHPCO, Census and Veteran resources will be reviewed, as well as a few surprises. Direct links to resources will be included in the handout.


Participants will be able to:

  • Explain how to find each data source on the Internet
  • Describe the purpose of each data resource and the types of data available from each source.
  • Illustrate at least one application of each data source to home health and hospice marketing.


Cordt Kassner, Ph.D., is a hospice and end-of-life healthcare industry analyst. He incorporated Hospice Analytics in 2008 to merge Medicare datasets in unique ways, and with other national databases, to better understand and explain how healthcare is delivered to those near the end of life. Cordt serves on the faculties of the University of Colorado and Duke University, and is the Vice Chair / Incoming Chair of the Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP) Board of Directors.
