NEW PROGRAM for 2017- This is NOT a Routine HIPPA Update!

Curiosity Killed the Cat and Other Common HIPAA Pitfalls

This 3-hour program will be divided into three segments addressing:

  1. Common HIPAA pitfalls and how to avoid them
  2. Business associate relationships and requirements
  3. Overview of recently-published guidance from the Office of Civil Rights (OCR)

The program will provide practical and useful guidance concerning common HIPAA pitfalls that occur in home care and hospice businesses and how to train managers and staff to avoid them.  Topics include violations of HIPAA’s minimum necessary and incidental uses rules, curious staff members, social media breaches of patient information, notice of privacy practices requirements, and compliance with responding to subpoenas and other legal demands.  Other common HIPAA pitfalls that will be covered include misunderstanding and improper management of business associate relationships and requirements, and not keeping pace with published HIPAA guidance issued by the Office for Civil Rights, the HIPAA enforcement agency.
